LINDA ANGELIS
Linda's journey as a singer/musician/actress has taken her through a maze of experiences.
Her early studies began with vocals and classical trumpet at the Royal Northern College of music, continuing at summer school with Sir John Dankworth who influenced her in the field of jazz. Her voyage continued as a solo entertainer on the luxury cruise liners, Cunard/Royal Viking. Her versatility dazzled audiences touring with Des O' Conner and an invitation to follow from Prince Charles to sing at his navy demob party in recognition for her work with the combined services playing in countries from Belfast to Belize with Harry Secombe and Jim Davison.
Linda went on to perform at numerous festivals worldwide such as Australia and
Malta leading on to the casinos in Madeira, Portugal and a tour of India. This
influenced Linda to study Eastern philosophy, discovering her heartfelt desire
to compose songs with the ambition of launching a mystical pop album. Her dream
came true when a German label signed her up to write a debut CD titled "Heaven
is This" launched at Midem record festival. Returning to her jazz roots
a more acoustic album emerged inspired by the late Princess Diana, titled "Lady
of Light" now being played in over 30 countries with rave reviews.
Linda has also had much success with her own TV show in Malta where a producer
recognised her kaleidoscope of talents and asked her to present a radio series
for the" Voice of the Mediterranean" titled "Journey of inspiration."
This gave Linda the opportunity to interview inspirational artists like the
comic genius Ken Dodd who Linda worked with in her early career on BBC TV and
live shows.
Other TV work has included BBC 2 playhouse as an actress and musician with Clive
Swift. This followed with the role of Miss Weatherfield on Granada TV's Coronation
Street. In 2007 Linda played a supporting role in the film Telstar, covering
the life of 60s record producer Joe Meek.
However, before long Linda realised her first love as a performer and song/writer
attracting the attention of Sky TV producers for a series called "Predictions".
During 2006 Linda took a trip to California and was heard singing and playing
trumpet impromptu at the Hyatt Hotel in Monterrey. An invitation followed to
record a live album in concert at KRML radio station for the Black Hawk record
label with some of the finest musicians on the west coast of America including
concert pianist Weber Iago.
In 2009 Linda co/wrote and recorded a jazz/pop album with hit record producer Andy Whitmore to soon be released on Pixie records.
Linda is currently playing a season as a solo artist for the Ladbrokes casinos
mainly in London and occasionally with her duo "Blue in Green" for
the Chez Gerard restaurants.
Her repertoire includes jazz-cabaret/swing and Latin covers with her own songs
on request or in concert.
